KDLP-Archaeology, a division of Katzie Development Limited Partnership (KDLP), is seeking a senior archaeologist with coastal permit holding status to work out of our Pitt Meadows office located in Katzie First Nation territory.

The successful candidate will provide technical reviews, lead archaeological desk and field studies and hold archaeological permits for projects within the coastal region.

In addition to the above, the permit holder may be required to assist with other natural resource management or environmental stewardship duties as directed by the Nation. This is a full-time position.

Duties:

  • preparing or contributing to proposals;
  • securing heritage inspection, investigation and alteration permits;
  • designing and leading archaeological field programs;
  • liaising with First Nations and community members;
  • managing project scope, schedule and cost, including invoicing and client service;
  • participating in business development activities, including meetings with prospective clients;
  • participating in Indigenous community relationship-building activities;
  • undertaking analysis and preparing technical reports;
  • writing permit applications, interim reports, final reports, and proposals;
  • engaging with clients and assisting with business development.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Possess a BA and or BSc with an archaeology major (a Master’s degree is desirable);
  • Must be an Associate or Professional member of the British Columbia Association of Professional Archaeologists (BCAPA);
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Cultural Resource Management;
  • Minimum 10 years experience identifying and recording traditional use sites & features, CMTs, and a full range of coastal archaeological site types;
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract;
  • Desire to work closely (in both leadership and supporting roles) with First Nations;
  • Excellent writing and communications skills;
  • Able to work independently.

Salary will be commensurate with education, skills and experience.
