About the Opportunity

H3M Environmental has exciting opportunities for multiple full-time Field Directors, based in Fort St. John, B.C.

The Field Director will be primarily responsible for project execution and client management to assist in H3M’s continued growth and diversification of client-focused services across Western Canada. You will assist with building and maintaining positive client relationships, focusing on providing top-quality service in regulatory expertise and following through on new business opportunities.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, manage, and execute various archaeological assessments and associated reporting in accordance with the BC Heritage Conservation Act and the needs of clients
  • Assist in the preparation of program execution plans for projects
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, permit applications, and final permit reports, as required
  • Assist in H3M’s continued growth and diversification of client-focused services across Western Canada
  • Liaise with Indigenous communities to support participation and collaboration
  • Assist with building and maintaining positive client relationships, focusing on providing top-quality service and regulatory expertise
  • Train, mentor, and supervise internal staff and Indigenous participants aligned to H3M core values
  • Ensuring compliance of project activities with all relevant local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of applications, reports, work plans, protocols, and other documents to ensure conformance with regulatory and policy requirements
  • Maintain an understanding of applicable cultural heritage management regulations, guidelines, and associated industry practices within BC
  • Maintain an understanding of the forestry and oil and gas services pertaining to Cultural Heritage Resource management
  • Ensure the highest standards of practice are met when completing field assessments and cultural material collection

About You

We’re seeking a dedicated professional with a Bachelor’s or technical diploma in Archaeology or Anthropology and at least 3+ years of relevant archaeological experience, preferably in the subarctic boreal forest.

Due to the nature of the role, a valid Class 5 Driver’s License is essential.

Preference will be given to members of the BCAPA and those eligible for Subarctic Boreal Forest Field Director or Permit Holder status. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of the oil and gas industry in BC are valuable assets.

Field Directors with Interior Plateau or Coastal Region certificates will also be considered.

In addition to technical qualifications, we value:

  • Comfortable working in remote locations with high physical demands
  • Experience in supervising small crews
  • Being comfortable on a variety of transport vehicles (ATVs, helicopters, snowmobiles, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cultural heritage regulations, guidelines, and associated industry practices
