 Role Description

We are looking to fill a full-time, permanent role of Field Director for the BC Interior Plateau. For team collaboration, the preference is for the successful candidate to be based in Calgary, AB but remote work will be considered. The Field Director will:

  • oversee and complete field projects, ensuring efficient and effective completion of field work and associated reporting, which includes meeting and exceeding client expectations in terms of budgets and timelines, thereby providing the best in customer experience;
  • be a team leader, utilizing mentorship and coaching moments to help our staff to continuously grow and be excellent at project execution;
  • be a safety leader, understanding and leading by example in that safety, health and wellness (physical and mental) come first;
  • maintain and cultivate relationships with clients, government, and First Nations, complying with regulatory requirements, as well as our Indigenous Inclusion Policy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Field Director for the BC Interior Plateau, with advanced knowledge and experience in archaeological consulting within the Interior Plateau of BC
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and liaising with community representatives
  • Experience liaising with the BC Archaeology Branch and meeting regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership, team management, and personnel management skills
  • Ability to execute work plans and manage project budgets in compliance with all project requirements and on a timely and efficient basis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and engage in creative problem-solving when faced with unique challenges
  • Familiarity with relevant government regulations related to heritage resource management and archaeology
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and 3 year insurance history

Compensation

  • $34 to $44 per hour depending on experience plus overtime, all statutory and optional statutory holidays plus Christmas week off
