Job: Coastal Field Director
EcoLogic Consultants Ltd.
|Location||North Vancouver or Maple Ridge, BC|
POSTED TO JOB BOARD ON: 21-NOV-2020
EcoLogic Consultants Ltd. is seeking an experienced British Columbia Coastal Field Director. This will be a full-time position, based out of either our North Vancouver or Maple Ridge offices. This is a permanent position and will be available until filled. Though based in the Lower Mainland, there is potential for travel throughout the province and into the northern territories.
Applicants must be approved Field Directors for the Northwest Coast with the Archaeology Branch, or have met all of the qualifications to do so. Applicants must have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in archaeology or anthropology, and have a minimum of five years’ experience in archaeology in southern coastal BC. The ability to field-direct in more than one cultural region would be an asset but is not a requirement.
This position will likely be 40−60 % field-based. Fieldwork will include archaeological monitoring, excavation, survey, and testing in a wide range of urban and remote locations. Projects will include residential, municipal, industrial, and resource extraction work. Applicants should be physically fit and willing to conduct a wide range of fieldwork activities with long hours and in all weather conditions. Applicants must hold a valid BC driver’s license and be willing to provide a driving record as a condition of employment. Level I First Aid is a requirement, and ATV/UTV and other relevant training would be an asset.
Office work will include laboratory analysis, artifact processing, research, and report writing. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other relevant computer programs is expected. Office work may be conducted independently and will often be self-directed, so the ability to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-oriented environment is necessary. Leadership skills, a willingness to mentor others, and the ability to interact effectively with clients, government representatives, and First Nations are desirable.
EcoLogic takes pride in building and maintaining strong working relationships with First Nation communities and challenging the status quo. As an archaeologist with EcoLogic, the successful applicant will be expected to further develop existing relationships and create new ones. The successful applicant will be expected to carry out archaeological research that surpasses and continually works to improve the current standard of practice in BC archaeology.
EcoLogic will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications of the successful applicant. We proudly offer a comprehensive benefits package with medical and dental coverage, the opportunity for professional development, and conference funding. We also provide our team with all the equipment needed to conduct work to the high standards we set for ourselves.
Applicants should summit a resume and cover letter to Greg Morrissey at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Only applicants selected for interviews will be contacted.
