If this interests you, Ecofor is currently seeking an Archaeology Crew Lead or Field Director to join our team in Fort St John, BC.

This is a full time position offering competitive wages, extended health benefits (medical/ dental/ vision) accommodations/wage subsidy and vacation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas of archaeological potential and archaeological sites.
  • Collect data and conduct data management.
  • Lead field reconnaissance and archaeological impact assessments for oil and gas, hydro, forestry, transportation, and other industries.
  • Follow permit requirements.
  • Write interim reports and communicate with Field Directors and Permit Holders.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and work collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology.
  • Preference given to applicants who are approved to be a Field Director in one or more culture areas in BC.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow the business, and work closely with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations.
  • Experience in Cultural Resource Management.
  • Familiarity with the provincial heritage assessment regulatory environment in BC.
  • Familiarity with mapping, pedestrian survey, subsurface testing, data collection and field note taking experience desired.
  • Ability to conduct strenuous field work in a variety of field conditions.
  • Experience with handheld GPS units, mapping software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe software.
  • Willingness to travel for work and stay in remote accommodations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. Skill with ATVs and UTVs is an asset.
