Our Burnaby, Prince George, Vanderhoof and Fort St John offices have positions available immediately for full time Archaeologists who are on track to becoming a Field Director (as per Bulletin 17).  Our team is progressive, innovative, and seeks to contribute to the understanding of BC’s long and rich history.

Job Description

Primary Responsibility: to conduct and supervise archaeological field work meeting ARCHER and stakeholder standards, including but not limited to:

  • Active participation in archaeological field assessments in supervisory capacity;
  • Adhering to ARCHER CRM Partnership’s OH&S and Quality Assurance programs;
  • Provide direction to archaeological assistants;
  • Co-ordinate with Project Lead to satisfy client needs;
  • Will involve frequent travel to other ARCHER CRM Partnership offices and jobsites.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver Licence;
  • Available to work away from home office at remote job sites and offices;
  • Undergraduate degree in Archaeology/Anthropology/Earth Sciences;
  • Has at least 360 days of consulting field experience in BC under permit.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, recording, documenting and suggesting to a supervisor management recommendations for found archaeological remains, including features;
  • Provide an up to date ‘experience summary spreadsheet’ as per Archaeology Branch Bulletin 17 if possible;
  • Eligible to work in Canada under a presently valid work visa.

Preference given to those with the following skills/experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and in a team environment;
  • Basic understanding of lithic technology, GPS terminology and mapping techniques;
  • Safe operation of vehicles, ATV, snowmobiles, and other devices;
  • That at least one reference provided be an individual who can comment directly on the applicant’s supervisory time;
  • Be a Canadian citizen.

Preference given to those with the following Certifications:

  • First Aid Level 1 and Transportation Endorsement;
  • H2S, TDG;
  • ATV Rider Safety and Snow Pro;
  • Wildlife Awareness.

  • Wage commensurate with demonstrated experience;
