Ridgeline Archaeology is currently seeking motivated archaeologists of all levels to join our expanding field team this summer. These postings are for a full-time seasonal (with options for longer term) positions based out of Prince George. We offer extensive training, incentives, and professional growth and work in and around the communities of the Interior Plateau culture area. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for taking on further responsibilities within the company and may be required to lead archaeological field work as senior staff and in remote locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for field work;
  • Prepare and maintain field equipment and vehicles;
  • Navigate field surveys in remote and inclement locations;
  • Maintain crew safety and morale while providing healthy team leadership;
  • Conduct site evaluations, mitigations, and excavations according to Arch Branch standards;
  • Record and log GPS data, take photographs and write effective field notes;
  • Process field data and provide constructive feedback for crews;
  • Artifact analysis and preparation of technical and site reports.

Requirements:

  • One field season and/or field school of archaeological experience (Field Technician)
  • Two or more years of demonstrable field experience in remote locations (Supervisor);
  • Or, qualified or eligible (see Bulletin 17) Field Director;
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Archaeology or Anthropology; Or working towards the same.
  • Valid First Aid level 1 at minimum;
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License;
  • (Desirable) Bear Aware, ATV/UTV training, S100, Outdoors survival and leadership skills;
  • Confident and capable of providing safe leadership outdoors and in remote locations;
  • Available to work out of hotels or camps and commute on busy FSRs or from helicopter;
  • At ease working around both wildlife and domestic animals.
